Charissa and Rick – a wedding in 5 weeks

Today I received the professional photographs of Charissa and Rick’s wedding. This wedding was truly unique, not only did they have a sashimi station and an ice cream cart but it was planned in 5 weeks! I regularly get asked about how long it takes to plan a wedding and when a couple should start… this wedding is the perfect example that if you have the right planner behind you, it can be done in a short time frame. Just remember that the legal paperwork needs to be filed 31 days prior to your wedding date. There are many reasons why couples choose to not spend a year or so planning and in some cases it can be such a smart move. They do not have time to change their mind over and over about their colour scheme, their dress etc. However you need to be the type of person that is happy to compromise as your favourite photographer, venue, florist may not be available. It does lend to a creative flair where couples really do think outside the square. Hiring a planner is also a smart move as they will have a grasp on what suppliers will work best and will remove many many weeks of research from the planning process. Charissa and Rick were married at Charissa’s sister and brother-in-law’s home on Mt Tamborine. It large outdoor spaces were a stunning blank canvas to work with. We brought in a clear marquee with crystal chandeliers, tiffany chairs, a sashimi station to feed guests and an old style ice cream cart for dessert. It was full of the personalities of Rick and Charissa and all guests loved the day, even if it did begin storming 5 minutes before the Bride was due to arrive. Rain was an issue on the day but a quick reshuffle of the ceremony set up to under the balcony of the home rather than in the yard (a little squishy but it worked) and the clear sides that had been added to the marquee last minute, meant that no guests were wet. Ushers walked guests in to the ceremony area and then down to the reception marquee with frilled umbrellas, a beautiful last minute (essential) addition. I thoroughly enjoyed planning this wedding for Rick and Charissa and wish them all the best for their future x   CREDIT: Wedding Planner and Stylist: Sugared Style Photographer: Sophie Baker Photography Caterers: Wine and Dine ‘Em Marquee and Hire Equipment: Excel Hire Wedding Cake: Cakes by Vivienne Florist: Mountains of Flowers Solo Artist: David Baker Ice Cream Cart: Wheel and Spoon
